What kind of engineering and tech changes are made to the production bikes, and how much do they improve the bikes the performance, and how much does it all cost?

  1. Stock ushally means unmodified that is the way a normal person looking to buy a new bike. When you get it,It is stock the other ones the championship Super bikes are modified for racing.
  2. stock race bikes are just that with mods like brake pads, exhausts, suspension allowed most of the time these classes run a dot tire world super bike allows brakes rotors traction control exhausts tires and sometimes throttle body increases go to their web sites for the specifics
  3. stock means you can buy it off the show room floor, superbike refers to works bikes, factory one off,s,dont even have vin #s(meaning not street legal) and belive me kawasaki yamaha honda and all the other,s dont want you to know whats in there works bikes, its a secret,SHUSSSH!!
  4. About 100,000 dollars. The world championship bikes are nothing but testing for future models. Technology on those bikes will show up on production bikes in a few years.
  5. There is a huge difference. The World Superbikes in the official chanmpionship are a silhoutte series of bikes. That basically means that the bikes in the current year of the championship must look externally like the model on sale in the shops that year. Look at the 07 Suzuki GSX-R which must run dual exhaust on the race bike, to look like the road bike, even though only one can is actually in use, the other a lightweight dummy. There are a ton of modifications that the WSBK bikes have from the one you can buy from your dealer. These include some sophisticated electronics as well as a host of hidden and fairly closely guarded engine modifications. The frame must be based on the same road going unit as the version of the bike that was homologated. I believe that the basic bore and stroke of the engine must remain the same as the standard bike as well as some other fundamentals. Another area where the race bikes vary significantly is the quality of components such as brakes, suspension etc and the exotic materials that they use all over the bike. The 2007 Ducati 999 engine basically has to be replaced after each meeting at huge expense as it is in such a high state of tune to compete with the current models of the competitors. The 999 no longer being a current Ducati model. By the way 100,000 dollars would not get you much of a WSBK leading machine.
