  1. missing parts, little screws that might be missing, try pumping up the tires and see if it has a slow leak, check if it even runs good.... basic stuff like that...
  2. http://www.clarity.net/~adam/buying-bike.html Check out this link, I read it when buying my bike. It's long, but very thorough.
  3. Hi if you have a friendly bike mechanic slip him a few quid to come along or a knowledgeable mate. It's so easy to overlook things when you really want a bike (I've done it myself)a few things you can check HPI check the AA i believe or experian Will do this for a fee, when you inspect the bike get on your hands n knees to check lower body panels for grounding ,engine numbers to V5,engine casings for grounding, sump bung for wire holes(raced)make sure that the steering turns without any tight spots(hard landings from wheelies)service history .I would ask if the seller is ok with a AA RAC inspection if not walk away ..Hope i have been some help but i don't know what experience you have ,good luck.
  4. if you have the vin, check its history at www.cyclechex.com
