I am new to motorbikes? What do I have to do to get to ride the biggest bikes?
What are the age limits? I have a full UK driving license. What do I need to do? That is a full car license. I have no sort of bike license. I have only had a car driving license a year.

- EH? What full licence? Car or Motorcycle? If you have a full motorcycle licence, go and buy a "big" one. There are NO age restrictions, just like a car! Only the cost of insurance will restrict your choice.
- As with most people, try starting from the bottom. I know it's not cool riding a scooter but you have to start somewhere. When you eventually get there. find the size of bike that suits you and not your ego. By that time you will be ready to go. Sorry pal, but size and speed usually have a clause, " DEATH". Take your time, if you are young, you have plenty of time. Make the most of it....... There are no age limits if you have a full driving liscence. Paul...........
- If your full UK licence has the appropriate group for motorcycles, you can ride up to a 125cc motorcycle, so long as you first complete a CBT ( Basic Training course) which allows you to ride a 125 with 'L' plates. The CBT is valid for two years. If you are over 21, the alternative to doing the 125cc test is to enrol on the Direct access course for big bikes (500cc and over) this will cost you so better to check with your local training centre. Check your full car licence, it may or may not have the m/c group listed ( mine did not). If not, you will have to apply to DVLA for a new licence. (No fee) The m/c endorsement is only a provisional until you pass your test and get the full m/c licence.
- take the direct access course then bye my zxr 750 kawasaki
- Hi mate, I never thought I would say this but if I were you I would not go above a 600cc roadbike. I started on one myself and thought that I could have gone bigger but I'm glad I didn't. I'm no legend but I learned a lot in that first year on my ZX6R 97 model. I crashed it twice but it was in a controlled environment on the racetrack and thats where you want to be if you get yourself a modern day missile! I think if I went on something bigger I might have lost all confidence and probably quit riding altogether. Now, I've got a brand new 05 ZX10R Kawasaki and a brand new YZ 250 dirt bike. I'm on tender hooks with the Wife on that one though! Good luck and I hope you progressively build up to a mean machine, they do take time to get used to and some skill depending on how hard you want to push yourself. Troy.

- If you are new to bikes that tells me you have no full licence to ride ,if that is so then do the access course, but, i would start on a smaller bike first .600 cc is plenty big enough that will be a very pokey bike and will do all you want, when you have had some experience and have got some miles under your belt ,perhaps done a track day ,taken the time to do an advanced driving course then get your big bike, remember its serious stuff not a toy, your life is at stake here.
