- It is cubic centimeters, the size of the engine.
- size of the engine
- That would be cubic centimeters. Cubic indicates volume. Formula. Area of the bore (radius squared times 3.1417 (pi)) times the length of the stroke times the number of cylinders. More volume allows more room for the fuel/air mixture to be compressed (compression ratio) and ignited. The fuel is gasoline. Air is air. There are other factors. Example. Three motorcycles, all 600 cc. One is a single cylinder, one is a twin, and the last is a four cylinder. On average, the engine with the most horsepower will be the four cylinder. Many other factors come into play. Hope this helps your understanding of engines. Engine design is a fascinating subject to learn. To James, Motorcycles have engines. By definition, motors refer to electric, hydraulic, or pneumatic. An engine is a mechanical device that produces some form of output from a given input. My 1800 Goldwing has a larger engine than 4 of the cars I have owned over the years.
- First thing, cars have engines, bikes have motors. Yes, the larger the displacement the more power it will have, within the same type of motor configuration. A 1600cc v-twin cruiser will not outrun a 600cc supersport. Difference in gearing and power delivery, as well as the weight of the bike. Larger displacement motors also means more weight.
- cubic centimeters. same as a milliliter
