Don't superbikes usually elude the police, if driven by someone who knows what they're doing?
Being that the bike can pull away almost like an indy-car, even the radio must become powerless when the bike is 1/2 a mile away in seconds. I'm not saying anything about whether they should be running, or whether they'll eventually be caught if they do it more than once...

- Nothing beats the power of a radio and several (hundred) mates on the ground. There is an old saying every dog has his day - you don't get him today, you will tomorrow!
- doesn't have to be a superbike. a bloke on a pitbike out ran the coppers in my home town a month ago. if you know how to ride properly then you're set
- First of all, the radar is only used to determine how fast a vehicle is moving. Very few people get away in a high speed chase, no matter what they are driving or riding. Have you ever heard of a helicopter? You must have seen them.
- And at 150 MPH around curves. Go figure. Helicopters, as an eye in the sky, could almost be rendered useless..
- unless the police have a superbike too
- Yep easy to lose the old bill most of the time. Unless of course they are in a helicopter, even with no chopper they will probably have your registration so your stuffed either way.
- You have to be a complete knob if you really believe that !!! I dont expect ten points for stating the obvious !!!
- sorry hate to burst your bubble but even a superbike with a super-driver can not out run a police-radio and all police are not dumb if one that first sees-you can not get-you the ones up ahead of you will.dont be stuiped and try-it you are not superman or superwomen or even a superbiker but if you try-it you might be superdead or superjailed.PS I dont like tickets or being dead
- i once had a cop say to me "you cant beat radio waves" in the US riders fleeing a cop are called organ donors, it must be for a reason,
- take away the radios and the eye in the sky and the cops don't have a chance.
- Ride away all you want. Remember, most police cars are equipped with video cameras these days. They don't HAVE to catch you. They have enough evidence there to just show up at your house later and arrest you.
- Can't outrun a radio.
- If you run, you better get away. The cops tend not to like people trying to elude them.
- Last year near my home, 4 sportbike riders figured they'd outrun the Highway Patrol again. They'd done it before a couple of times before and one of those times, one of the kids passed me. Literally blew past me like a streak of lightning. As usual, two went one way and two the other way. The first two got away but the second two didn't fare so well. One tried to round a curve at 100 mph, lost it and ended up with all kinds of broken bones. When he was laying there in the weeds all busted up, I bet he was glad to see that patrolman as he called an ambulance. The other idiot came around a gentle curve on a 4 lane highway at 120 and plowed straight into the back of a deputy's car that was parked on the side of the road at a road block. It happened about 500 feet from a hospital but he was dead by the time they got him there. And the idiot biker almost creamed the deputy who was standing beside the car. And don't go starting the "it's the cops fault because they were chasing the bikers" bit. The cops never did catch the other two guys because after one of their friends ended up looking like mashed potatoes and the other one was pushing up daisies, that ended the "out run the cop game" they'd been playing. Too bad one had to die to get the point across.
- To the story about the 4 guys trying to get away: They're squids, and deserved it. It's a shame that the second one didn't die, now our insurance rates go up.
- You can't outrun a Motorola police radio. I don't car what you're riding/driving. Police have helicopters, too. They are real hard to outrun.
- Most local cops have a no chase policy. It is more of a danger to chase a biker than to just let him go. They may sound the siren or flash the berries but they are not supposed to chase. State Troopers on the other hand have the green light to chase you, shoot you, and run you off the road. Just watch who you hit it on. No cop car can keep up though. I took a defensive driving course instructed by a trooper and he told of how a guy on a busa left him in the dust last radar was 220 and he was still accelerating. Some people would rather die than lose their freedom. Not me.
- You can't outrun Mr. Motorola.
