Is the ducati monster 696 a good second bike?

I am a mature driver who has taken the MSF course. I put 600-700 miles on my first bike, which was a Ninja250. I am considering the Kawasaki Ninja 650r. I am into sports and naked bikes mostly. Any good suggestions other than the monster 696 and the ninja 650r? Thank you. how about the cbr600? what is the difference between RR, F4i and the F3?

You should probably check out all of the following: Standard (Naked) GS500 (prior to 2004) - only a little more power than the Ninja 250 SV650 Bandit 600 FZ-6 CB599 Sport GS500F (after 2004) SV650S CBR600F4i Bandit 600s Honda has several flavors of the CBR600: The CB599, which is a naked or standard, the CBR600F4i which is a sportbike version of the same bike, and the CBR600RR, which is a bike tailored more for track riding. The RR has a more aggressive seating position - clipons are lower, the suspension is setup a little stiffer, and the motor is a little more powerful in the high end. The F4i is a little more of an entry level 600 cc sportbike, although the difference is not really significant. (if you read the magazines, the quarter-mile times of the F4i are about .1 second slower than the RR). The F4i is the current fuel-injected version of this bike. an F3 is an older model with similar characteristics to the F4i, except it is carbureted. If you're in the US, you might see if you can get to the International Motorcycle Show - its a good chance to see the newest bikes from a lot of manufacturers up close.

Go Honda I've owned 2 Kawasaki's 250,600 1 Suzuki GSXRi600rr,1 Honda929 and rode a Yamaha R6,Honda CBR600rr alot and by far the best bike has been the Honda Reliability,power,ride comfort,handling,quiet shifting.Then Yamaha ,then Suzuki and last the Kawasaki.I've been there to see and ride all these since they were bought new and mileage that ranges from 10-18,000 miles and the Hondas ride like new compared to the others and have the most miles regular maintenance is all we have had to do.The others have had to spend at least $450.00 on repairs.Do yourself a favor and dont get frame sliders get a full cage it will save you alot of heart break as any 600 weighs alot more than the 250 your on now and cost alot more too.The bike will have no damage in low speed accidents.
if you dig monsters its going to come down to your budget wether or not its a good choice for you or not,they cost a bit more to maintain than the asian makes a honda nt650 hawk and the suzuki sv650 are similar affordable options in the monster vien.
The Ducati's require high maintenance with frequent breakdowns and are much higher priced than the Japanese sport bikes, and there are limited trained Ducati technicians that can repair it. you're much better off to go with any of the 4 major Japanese brands that are similar to the Ducati 696 Yamaha FZ6 Suzuki SV650, or V Strom 650 ( same engine ) Kawasaki 650 Ninja, or Versys ( same engine )
